Karly Elaine Heath

I wasn't planning on blogging much anymore but wanted to put Karly's birth story out on "paper" so here I am again.

I was checked on Monday and was at 3cm and 75%effaced. My doctor told me how easy I was making it for him and so we moved my arrival time from 12am to 5am because it probably wouldn't take long to get me into active labor!

Wednesday night Ricky and I took the boys to his parents and then went to eat. We had a relaxing night watching tv and finally went to bed at midnight. We checked into the hospital around 445 and were super excited. Around 530am they started the pitocin. Our great nurse bumped up the amount every 15mins. My contractions started out pretty slow and were just more like cramps to begin with. When the doctor got there about 7am and checked me I was still just 3cm. To say I was disappointed was a understatement. But they kept bumping me up and the contractions got stronger.

Around 9am the anesthesiologist came in to introduce himself and ask me a question. He had a student that had been sent to him and they wanted to know if I would let the student do my epidural. Now, I understand that everyone will have to start out on someone but I just couldn't handle the thought of being a students "first" I just couldn't. I felt so bad saying no because I know they need to get experience but all I could think about was if something went wrong I would have three babies who needed me!

My nurse had a student with her and we quickly named the student nurse Slammy! The girl slammed the door EVERY time she came into and out of the room. We had a great time laughing about it.

By this time we had quite a few people there with us. My parents, Ricky's parents, Our Barbara, Mike, Ricky and Kollyn. Everyone took turns keeping Kollyn out of the room. Which I'm so thankful for. I know he wouldn't remember it but I didn't want to be in pain and he be there in the room. He gave everyone a run for their money in the lobby from what I hear.

During the day a few times my contractions would just fade away. I even thought a few times that something had happened to my IV because they would just go away. When they would bump my medicine up it would help but I never had contractions close together for more than 25-30 mins. They stayed about 4 mins apart.

I finally got the epidural about 130 or 200? I'm not sure about the time. I was told that I had held out longer than any other patient on the floor that day and he was impressed by that. I'm not sure how women can do it without medicine. I just can't imagine. I was tired of the nagging pain that the contractions were causing. When they checked me then I was only at 4cm and I lost it! I had been there all day and was only at a 4!! I of course cried and fussed but they bumped up the pitocin and we waited some more.

Around 415 my wonderful doctor came in and talked to me and decided to check to see how things were going. Again I was at a four and Karly had moved back up and wouldn't come down. I knew before what he was going to say but those words are hard to hear. Let's do a C-section and get this BIG girl out. She probably can't come down because she is so big. I said okay through tears and so things started rolling.

At 430 they wheeled me in and at 442 the most wonderful thing came into my world. My Karly.. The little girl I have waited for all my life.

Blog mix

Sometimes I feel like I'm talking to myself on here! But its a good place to put things into words and get stuff off my mind!

Ricky's dad is in the hospital. He hurt his leg on Friday and has was sent to the hospital yesterday. Last night Ricky and I left the kids with my mom while we went to see what was going on. Tonight we took them and Regan had a complete melt down. He refused to go into the hospital room. He was very upset about the hospital room and would only stand on the wall outside. He kept telling me outside and pointing toward the elevators. We tried several different ways to get him into the room but he just wasn't going to do it. I felt so bad for him and wished a million times I knew what was going on in his head.

Kollyn is doing really well! We go Friday for his 9 month check up and I'm thinking he is over 20lbs. He is eating everything except baby food. He just doesn't like it. Sometimes we get him to eat squash or carrots but not very often.

I have beach fever and so does Ricky. I know I can't go but boy do I miss it. I'm already saving for us a vacation next Summer! Tonight the sunset was soo pretty and Ricky and I both said it would be prettier at the beach! We are so much alike about wanting to go somewhere all the time!!

This weekend will be a busy one! We have a birthday party and a baby shower. The baby shower is for my best friend growing up sister. Brit was like a sister to me too and I just can't believe she is having a baby. She used to tell us how gross we were for kissing boys! I can't wait to see her!

I'm almost 33 weeks pregnant! I can't wait to meet my little girl!! I've been being creative lately and have made her a tutu and made a crib skirt for her bed since I didn't like anything I found. I go back to the doctor Monday and for what will be considered my 34 week checkup! Just a few more visits!! I'm so happy to know that this will be our last child but also sad in a way to know that this part of our life is over. It makes me feel old to know my pregnancy days are almost over and I will never feel these movements again.

There is our life update. How is your life going?

Busy weekend

We have had a crazy weekend. I spent about 16 hours in L&D Thursday due to back pain/kidney stone/gall stone/bladder infection. Not sure exactly what was causing all the problems but something was and it wasn't pretty!! Things are better now I 've been on lots of medicine to try to help the problems so I think I'm getting better. It all started when I picked up Kollyn funny Thursday afternoon and only got worse during the evening and night. I have a wonderful doctor who helped take care of me and get me back on the healing track!!

I did find out that I am already dilating so that was exciting!! Right now we are looking at the 23rd of September to be induced. It may happen before that but that is what we discussed. We had an ultrasound last week and she weighed 4lbs already! I think she will be the largest of my babies!!

I have to say how wonderful our families are!! We called Ricky's parents on the way to their house Thursday morning at 3 and told them we were bringing the boys to them. Then when I knew we were being sent to L&D I called my mom and told her what was going on she rushed to the hospital to be with us. She had to go to work but then a co-worker offered to run her route for her so that she could be with me. Friday Ricky's mom stayed with us so that I could see the boys and all day Saturday she watched the boys and washed all the laundry!! My mom made me chicken and dumplings and my dad brought them to me and cut our grass!! Then as our air conditioner has decided to die on us they went and got us another and installed it for us! We have amazing parents and are so thankful for them!!

Regan starts back to school next week!! He is super excited! Every morning he has asked me if its "cool time?" I'm hoping to do some fun things together this week I can't believe it has went by so fast!

**Update~Spell check won't work. I'm too tired to fuss with it tonight! If its wrong just forgive me!!

Potty training and potty attitude!

Will Regan ever be 100% potty trained? I'm beginning to think he will be 21 before we stop having accidents. I really thought he would be over this by the time school started back. Some days he will stay dry all day and then other days we use 5 pair of undies. I'm so frustrated with him about it. He knows what to do and he knows when he needs to go but he just doesn't want to go.

Attitude is another thing. For all those people who say "People with down syndrome are always so sweet and loving" They need to spend a day with Regan. These last few days I have felt like a complete failure with him. I have went to bed two nights just crying about his attitude. Monday he repeatedly hit his mawmaw, pulled her hair, screamed at her and was just horrible. He would not mind and that isn't going to work for us. I was so embarrassed that he was being so mean. Ricky and I have decided that we are going to be really tight on him the next two weeks. Hopefully we can get some of this under control before school starts. Right now if he went to school we would be having a behavior eval for sure. He is absolutely out of control. It's our fault for letting him get by with attitude but that has ended. Today has been a little better but not much. Lets hope things change or I'm sure that we will be having lots of frowny faces this year.

Our good friends Donnell and Lindsay got married over the weekend! Ricky and Donnell have been friends FOREVER!! It was super sweet to see these two tie the knot. Their reception had a DJ and we had a blast dancing or in our case "trying to dance" :) We got home around 1am and that is the latest us two old people have been out in years!!! What the Heath's have been doing

We have been spending lots of time being a family of 4 lately. It won't be long before Regan starts school and then we will be a family of 5 in no time! We took a quick trip to Gatlinburg this past weekend and had fun just hanging out together! We let the boys play in the stream and they both loved it. I got my feet in and boy was it cold!! I have no idea how Regan was going all the way in but he did.
On the third we went to the Baron's baseball game and watched the fireworks. We had missed the Down Syndrome Awareness night so we wanted Regan to get to watch a game and then watch some more fireworks. Kollyn did amazing watching the game and fireworks it was just a great time for all of us!
Pregnancy is going good. I had to take the three hour glucose test but passed it with no problems. I am measuring REALLY far ahead! Like I'm 29 weeks and I'm measuring 38!! I go in two weeks for another ultrasound to check and see if she is big or just my belly! I about fell out when we found out how big I was measuring.
Can't remember if I have told the world but Kollyn is walking! He started about two weeks ago. He still crawls lots but will take 8-10 steps when he wants to. I can't believe he has grown up so fast!!
It's been a great Summer and I don't want it to end!!!
